The scent laboratory for kids
Even as a child, I had a very intense olfactory perception and I really missed not having the opportunity to explore my nose and the world of scents. I always wanted to have scents to play with. You could say I’ve always followed my nose in my life. Or followed my nose.
In childhood, the sense of smell is still very primal and strong. Children are still connected to the earth. That’s why I want to start with them when it comes to discovering the self through scents. New ways of expressing art and a new sense of well-being in everyday life can open up.
The sense of smell is the most elementary, but also the least conscious of the human senses in our latitudes. With painting courses, color therapy, dance courses, etc., all senses are activated – only the sense of smell is neglected. A whole untapped world of perception is waiting to be rediscovered.
With a scent laboratory, I would like to inspire children to experiment with scents and to pay attention to their “nose”. First, the children travel from scent to scent. They learn about smelling, the dimension of smell and the base notes. With the help of predetermined questions, the children are encouraged to think about the scents and express themselves creatively.
What does it smell like? What color is the smell? How do you feel when you smell it? An exciting process to experience yourself individually and to be able to trust yourself. Finally, we combine scents with our own texts, drawings and paintings, and at the end each child can create their own perfume.
